Three winners have been selected in the dairy division of the second annual ABS Global, Inc. photo contest.
First place goes to Bethany Couchman of California. Her unique photo displayed here quite handily caught the judges’ eye! Bethany is a freshman at California Polytechnic State University, and plans to study Agribusiness. The photo above was taken at her family’s dairy, Couchman Farms, in Modesto, California. This second generation 700-cow dairy has been ABS bred for over 40 years.
Second place winner is Paul Trapp of Wisconsin. His son Kole is featured with a Brown Swiss calf that went on to be nominated as a senior calf, placed 8th as a yearling at World Dairy Expo and is now scored VG-88 as a two-year-old. She is recently fresh again and Paul hopes she will go Excellent in her second lactation.
The third place winner is from Michelle Schmitt, an Iowa native who joined the ABS staff just one year ago. This Iowa State graduate’s photo of a Wisconsin farm really hit the spot! Michelle works as a relief tech at this farm in Northeast Wisconsin. The featured dairy above is Hornstead Dairy of Brillion, where the Brian and Lori Horn family milk 600 cows.
Thank you again to all of this year’s participants, and be sure to look for the 2013 photo contest next year!
