A Bull Report by Tom Harkenrider
29HO13566 Brandt-View HOWARD-ET is our first son of ABS great, ALTON. I have heard several producers say their ALTON daughters last forever. Well, HOWARD appears to follow in the same footsteps. HOWARD daughters are profit makers…they increase milk production while lowering SCS to qualify for milk premiums. They calve easily thus reducing time in the hospital group and breed back quickly to generate profit over multiple lactations.

HOWARD comes from the well know cow family at Brandt-View Farms in PA. This reliably proven ALTON son is from a 2E-92 Capri (by JUROR) with a top record of almost 58,000 in one lactation. The family is consistently noted for their extreme production values, consistent type and great health/fitness traits. HOWARD has VG sisters by Geoff, GARRISON, ALTON, Buckeye and Toystory. ABS has several branches of the family with sons at ABS, including sons from 2 of HOWARD’s full sisters. They are 29HO14459 Mungo and soon to be released 29HO16038 Albert.
Clean boned, hard working and moderate sized are all phrases that easily describe the pattern that HOWARD puts forward. Daughters are long necked, open in the rear rib and very clean through the thigh. Rear udders are high, wide, and capacious enough to fit the loads of milk from this high production ALTON son. The rear legs are ideal from the side, free moving in the joints, but can be a bit shallow in the heel. HOWARD daughters truly exhibit a will to milk from a compact frame.
HOWARD is a great choice for use in the heifer pens @ 4% calving ease. He will cross well on daughters of AFFIRMED, BARNABY, BOLTON, BOULDER, BREAKOUT, DAYTON, DETECTIVE, DRAKE, GARRISON, JAMMER, JEEVES, JUNIPER, MASON, MEGA-MAN, MEGATON, NACHO, NORSKI, SEATTLE and TENNYSON.
